At the forefront of this revolution is the Music-Performance Sports League (MPSL), the first-ever governing body of the Music-Performance Sports ecosystem. The MPSL is home to its flagship digital league, Song vs Song (SvS), where teams made up of multi-genre independent artists' songs go head-to-head in online matchups, integrated with Spotify and Apple Music and powered by real-time fan voting and expert judges. Each season features a draft, regular-season games, playoffs leading up to the SUPER MIC, the league's championship game—sounds familiar? Sure it does, because it's structured just like traditional sports.

“This is about more than music—this is about competition, culture, and community,” says Juan A. Thompson, creator of the MPSL. “We’re giving independent artists a whole new stage to be seen, supported, and celebrated. They’re not just creators. They’re competitors. They’re Music-Sports Athletes.”

The 2025 season of SvS launches this spring with 32 unsigned artists competing in a 7-week regular season, culminating in a SUPER MIC showdown. All matchups are powered by Spotify and Apple Music integration, fan voting, and an innovative scoring system that blends performance, lyrics, instrumentals, and crowd appeal.
