MPSL Introduces Its Initial 8 Teams of the Song vs Song (SvS) League

A New Era, Music-Performance Sports Begins with the Launch of the First Pro Sports League for Independent Artists

Newport News, VA. – The Music-Performance Sports League (MPSL) is proud to officially announce the first eight teams set to compete in the inaugural season of Song vs Song (SvS), a revolutionary online sports league where independent artists face off in head-to-head matchups with songs in pursuit of a championship.

Designed as a dynamic blend of music, sports, and competition, SvS introduces a fresh way for artists to promote their music, grow their fanbases, and battle for national recognition. Each team in the league will be represented by players drafted in the 2025 SvS Draft, which'll be a roster of 4 unsigned artists ready to compete across a 7-week regular season for a shot at the U.S. Championship.

The Inaugural SvS Teams Are:

Teams will compete in weekly games where songs are scored by judges on the categories Lyrics, Instrumental, and Radio Readiness. Matches will be displayed on the MPSL website, where, collectively, fans LISTEN and VOTE, and judges submit their scores from 10 am - 9:59 pm EST, with game results displayed by midnight.

The SvS is part of MPSL’s broader vision to transform music competition into a competitive sport, with the SvS being its flagship league.

Draft Day & Season Kickoff

The official 2025 SvS Draft Day will take place on the website on June 4th - 7th, where out of 100 submissions, 32 players will be drafted into the league's eight teams. The regular season begins with its 2 preseason games, with game 1 on June 28th and game 2 on July 5th. Then, it's GAME TIME with week 1 of the regular season kicking off on July 12th, leading up to the high-stakes SvS U.S. Championship game on August 30th.
